Abrogation in the Koran:
“None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?” Surat-Al-Baqarah 2:106
Maintaining journalistic integrity and consistency of standards is central to what we do at the Accredited Times. Like the Koran, we ensure that we report the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. We do this by updating the truth periodically with ‘something better or similar’. The update is then not only still the truth, but a truer truth than before. The Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) saw the wisdom of abregation; when peaceful passages at the beginning of the Koran appeared inconsistent with slaughtering the infidel, he was able to point to later verses (some admittedly not yet written at the time of the slaughter) that completely justified his holy jihad.
Thus it is with accredited journalism. Although some people mistakenly believe that the accredited press previously reported on so-called ‘Global Warming’, the updated and ‘truer’ truth is that we are experiencing Climate Change and always have done. Until the term is once more abrogated in the future, Climate Change remains the most accurate description of our present malaise precisely because it encompasses global warming, global cooling as well as global no-change at all.
The same concept applies to Islamaphobia, although here we must also speak of collective amnesia and paranoia. To be clear, the United States has always stood against cowardly people who espouse Islamaphobia. Some on the Alt Right spread lies that the Bush administration actively promoted hatred against Muslim countries after 911 in order to justify wars in the Middle East. This lie must be refuted in the strongest terms. The ‘truer truth’ is that no true American would deny that Islam is a religion of peace. If any such denials were to be made, well, there are places we can send such people for corrective treatment – for their own good.
