Just as a popular resistance is rising against Trump and his fascist takeover of America, a similar grassroots movement is developing from the ground up demanding that progressive Western governments take immediate action against Putin and his aggressive expansionism and human rights abuses. People all over the world are demanding that Putin is held to justice for his crimes against humanity in Syria and Ukraine. Everyday people are calling their local politicians and urging them to engage Russia militarily, or face landslide defeats in upcoming elections. The people have had enough, and they are not going to take this passive approach to Russia any longer.
Horrific image and video footage has been circulating within the accredited media showing some of the atrocities committed against the Syrian people by Putin and Assad, who have launched an all out assault on schools, hospitals, women and children in rebel-held territory. Efforts have been made by humanitarian organizations such as the White Helmets to help the victims of these attacks, but sadly the destruction is such that only a handful could be saved. Ordinary Americans are appalled at this footage, and are shocked and disgusted at Trump’s willingness to engage in ‘peaceful’ negotiations with Putin. They want real kinetic military action in Syria, and now, before more innocent lives are lost!
In addition, millions of LGBTQ people all over the world are demanding that Putin’s homophobic regime is overthrown and that a progressive government is installed, which complies with international laws protecting the LGBTQ community. Russia has also been kicked from the UN human rights council, and John Kerry has suggested he be investigated for crimes against humanity, making the case for war with Russia stronger than ever.
With the prospect of a potential Trump Presidency, ordinary Americans are urging Obama to act now against Russia with decisive military action, before Trump tries to broker some kind of peace deal with Putin’s corrupt and brutal regime. It is in the interest of every moral and upstanding person to support this, as at this point it is no longer a matter of foreign policy, but rather a matter of standing up for what is decent and right. Everybody needs to write to their congressperson now, demanding real action, not simply words, against Russia. The futures and well-being of millions of innocent people depend on it.
