With independent fact checking organizations like Politifact drowning under the tidal wave of lies and fake news emanating from the Trump administration and the alt right, I felt it was our duty to do our part in exposing these right wing lies. The Accredited Times’ brand new fact checking system allows anyone to fact-check a statement using the hashtag #fact-check.
Just enter this hashtag, followed by the following information separated by bars, as follows:
<Person’s Name> | <Statement> | <true/mostly-true/half-true/mostly-false/false/total-lie> | <Comment>
Refresh the page, and you will see a very convincing truth-o-meter based on the truth value you entered. For example, the following comment fact-checks one of Donald Trump’s recent statements:
Donald Trump |
The American people don’t care about my tax returns |
Actually, numerous accredited polls indicate that Trump’s tax returns are of great interest to the American people, and many people view his unwillingness to release them as suspicious, and cause for further investigation.
You can see the result of this statement in the comments section below.
It’s time to fact-check the hell of out of Trump and the alt-right, and make an effort to keep them on the back foot. If we can’t stop Trump from being president, we can at least attempt to tie his hands by constantly bombarding him with criticism and holding him accountable for his many inaccurate statements. Let the fact-checking begin.
