Roman Polanski is renowned as a genius film director and progressive icon, admired by Hollywood for his incredible talent. Polanski is also known for drugging and raping a 13 year old girl in 1977, and fleeing to Paris to escape a prison sentence. This has earned him much criticism from conservatives, who use this single incident to smear his entire reputation, while ignoring the great works of art he has produced. In Hollywood however, Polanski’s rape is viewed as edgy and glamorous, much like going to rehab or having a ‘sex addiction’.
Roman Polanski is the quintessential progressive, and a perfect role model for our children. He is exactly the type of person you would want directing films to be consumed by the American public and influencing American culture. Beloved Hollywood star, Meryl Streep, is a big fan of Polanski and she believes that the charges against him should be dropped without trial.
Would someone who cares about womyn’s rights as much as Meryl Streep, who courageously railed against Trump’s sexism and misogyny, really admire this man unless he had a kind and decent heart? The truth is, Polanski’s so-called crime pales in comparison to the numerous rape and sexual harassment accusations against Trump.
It’s hard to ignore the antisemitic element to criticism of Roman Polanski, as he and many of his admirers in Hollywood are Jewish. There is a long history of antisemitism among conservatives and critics of Hollywood, dating back to Walt Disney himself. The rise of Jewish influence in Hollywood has brought an end to western movies which featured masculine white males as heroes and glorified guns and freedom. At the same time, Jewish influence has introduced comedy movies featuring weak, effeminate males who constantly play the fool, while smart womyn and minorities roll their eyes at them.
Roman Polanski is loved by progressives throughout America, and is a Hollywood treasure. On these grounds, he should be forgiven for his minor crime, which was committed so many decades ago, and allowed to live out the rest of his days in a Los Angeles mansion, surrounded by admirers, where he can be interviewed and glamorized by the accredited media.
