As is to be expected from the transphobic Trump administration laws are being drafted to allow right-wing bigots to discriminate against LGBTQ+ people in both the work place and in everyday life.
Under the auspices of “religious freedom” the draft bill, that has been leaked to The Investigative Fund at The National Institute, will allow right-wing business’ to refuse services to LGBTQ+ people. As many small and medium companies are owned by “traditional” homophobic families who can’t wait to spoil gay marriages by refusing to provide cakes and other supplies – this bill, if passed, will bring back the bad old days of open hostility towards anyone who doesn’t fit their bigoted ideas about what a family constitutes.
The extremely anti-LGBTQ+ draft bill titled “Establishing a Government-Wide Initiative to Respect Religious Freedom” states:
”Persons and organizations do not forfeit their religious freedom when providing social services, education, or healthcare; earning a living, seeking a job, or employing others; receiving government grants or contracts: or otherwise participating in the marketplace, the public square, or interfacing with Federal, State or local governments.”
Clearly this bill is the first step in the Trump administration’s plan to institutionalize homophobia into government policy. Once passed the Trump government will be able to fund all types of gay persecuting groups. An education provider will be able to collect funding from hard working LGBTQ+ taxes and at the same time cause psychological trauma to transgender children by denying them the use of the appropriate sex toilet. Homophobic haters will be legally empowered to treat LGBTQ+ citizens as second class.
Claiming that “religious freedom” guarantees the right to oppress the LGBTQ+ community is the same twisted and bigoted logic that claims hate speech is protected by freedom of speech.
All minority groups must stand together to oppose this new tyranny – together we outnumber the deplorable, racist, transphobic, homophobic, narrow-minded, and bigoted majority.
