One thing we can be proud of as progressives, is that we are on the right side of history. In the present, things often seem overwhelming and difficult. Sometimes we seem outnumbered and outgunned by the alt right on internet platforms like YouTube, and other times we struggle to get our point of view across when confronted by know-it-all libertarians. But the important thing is, when all is said and done many years after we are dead, our children and grandchildren will look back at what we did, and say: “wow, they were really courageous, and I’m so thankful for the sacrifices they made for us”.
When Hitler came to power, many prominent politicians in the West supported him and thought he was a great leader – they thought that they were on the right side of history. But all these years later, and we now know that being a Nazi is the worst thing you can be, far more so than a communist, which is actually a good thing to be. In the days of slavery, Americans and Europeans were overwhelmingly in favor of it, and the abolitionists were mocked, laughed at and derided. Today however, they are lauded as heroes, and given credit for one of the greatest leaps forward in human progress.
The alt right needs to take a step back and think about how they will be viewed by generations to come. If they fail to silence the accredited media and our progressive education system, they will undoubtedly be remembered as the Nazis of the 21st century. Is that really how you want to be remembered? Do you really want to be on the wrong side of history? The alt right is risking its entire legacy by discussing issues that have long been taboo, like genetic differences between the races that aren’t positive for people of color. Many of the things they talk about seem to be backed up by science and data, but think of where this discussion leads. If we open a can of worms like this, we may end up with gas chambers and civil war! Topics like race and genetics are taboo for a reason, except when we are talking about the genetic superiority of people of color over whites.
Progressives can take pride in the fact that they are following the zeitgeist of empowerment and liberation. We are continuing the work of the abolitionists by advocating for every victim group we can think of, creating new victim groups, and unifying them all against white males through intersectionality. Together, we will create a true egalitarian society in the West, in which white people are a tiny, despised minority, the proletariat can collect a living wage, and all industries are nationalized under a trustworthy government (especially the important ones that are too important to leave to the free market). Country living will be banned, along with hunting and fishing, and everyone will be forced to live in compact smart cites where every aspect of our lives is monitored and policed to keep us safe and happy. This is the vision we are creating every day with our activism, and when our children (preferably adopted children of color) look back at us from their minimalist apartments, overlooking a sea of wind farms and solar panels, they will smile and think to themselves, “wow, those progressives really were on the right side of history”.
