As the headline explains, intersectionality literally killed a defenseless Indonesian snake earlier this week. Oh, you didn’t know? Well, just maybe that’s because the media is institutionally speciesist, grieving far more over the deaths of a mere 59 humans at the hands of another evil human in Las Vegas. No pixels could be spared to lament the death of a snake, unfortunately.
If it is tough being a black Muslim male (and we agree, they are high on the oppression scale), imagine being a 23 foot python. No, seriously, imagine being in their 23 foot skin. Do you imagine you would be given the best table in a restaurant? Would school children want to involve you in their playground games? Would you stand a chance even of winning the Nobel Peace Prize? Being elected President? No!
Yes, these are all rhetorical questions: no reptile has even made it to the presidential shortlist, unless you include Al Gore, of course.
As a 23-foot Python, People literally recoil at the sight of you, assuming you are a ‘threat’ to their well-being. But, sadly, revulsion is not enough for these folks; rather, they want to kill you and display you as a trophy. This was certainly the case in Indonesia, a country which struggles to remain devoid of toxic whiteness.
The Uk Daily Telegraph covered the incident – at a safe distance:
“Robert Nababan was driving on a moped in Riau Province on the Indonesian island of Sumatra when he came upon the snake blocking traffic as it tried to edge across a road, according to local media.
Nababan and two other passers-by tried to move the huge predator off the road. The details of the encounter remain unclear, but Nababan ended up in hospital after the python sunk its razor sharp teeth into his arm while trying, as pythons do, to coil around the 37 year old.”
Excuse me: the snake was ‘blocking traffic’? Human cyclists do this all the tîme, although Cycling is a progressive activity which must be indulged in. But so what? Doesn’t the snake have a right to arrive at work on time also?
No, it seems the snake’s real crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or voting democrat. Or both. In this instance, the Asians (Indonesians) simply showed they are on the side of white oppression.
So, in short, the snake died through intersectionality. Racism, sexism, speciesism: all these isms are to blame for the murder of an innocent snake.
