If there is one conservative who garners universal respect and admiration from the accredited media, it is George W. Bush. A proven compassionate conservative who greatly increased immigration into the United States from Mexico, George Bush boosted the US economy by spending more than any president before him, and started the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which became humanitarian interventions after Obama took over. Whether you disagree with his policies or not, you have to agree that he was a strong and competent president, who at least believed he was doing the right thing. George Bush is loyal to the Republican party, but he could never put his support behind an openly racist presidential candidate like Trump. He stood by for months, giving Trump a chance to prove his competence and moral character. But after watching the country disintegrate into bigotry and chaos, he simply had to speak out.
The following clip shows Bush courageously speaking out against Trump’s bigotry, hate and incompetence; a brave thing to do in the face of intimidation from Trump’s deep state thugs and the Russian mafia:
Perhaps the most moving and chilling words of all from Bush’s speech are the following:
“We become the heirs of Martin Luther King Jr. by recognizing one another not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. This means people of every race, ethnicity and religion can be fully and equally American. It means that bigotry or white supremacy in any form is blasphemy against the American creed. It means the very identity of our nation depends on the passing of civic ideals to the next generation”
This is so true, and so important. America is not a white country – it belongs to everybody, as does every formerly white country. There should be no place on earth that white people can call home. This is the age of people of color. Martin Luther King is the most accomplished American in history, far more so than the founders of the Texas oil industry, Silicon Valley, New York City and the aviation industry. True American heroes are civil rights icons who stood up to right wing bigots and demanded the right to live with the racists who were oppressing them.
If anyone can take the moral high ground and criticize Trump, it is George W. Bush. He courageously went after Saddam Hussein for 9/11, and started looking for Saddam’s buddy Bin Laden in Afghanistan, although it took a true leader like Barrack Obama to finally find him. Progressives disagree with the tactics that Bush employed in the Middle East, which were rather war-like and overly-aggressive, and we prefer Obama’s more peaceful, humanitarian foreign policy, but we agree with the reasoning behind these foreign interventions nonetheless. George W. Bush is a hero, and this denouncement is going to come as a serious blow to Trump and his supporters. A man who has done so much for America simply cannot be ignored, and his words will reverberate across the nation and damage Trump’s credibility beyond repair.
