Last week, we reported on the growing phenomenon of a bunch of angry men who have had enough of a system that they believe is out to get them. These guys don’t care much for laws that seek to redress ancient oppression against womyn, they dont want to be tied down by a legal contract (aka marriage) to a womyn, and they absolutely HATE how progressives spell womyn! We decided to find out more about these solitary men, and why they choose to ‘go their own way’ rather than the way womyn would have them go.
In truth, we were a little over zealous (as well as nonsensical, as in ‘we need to admit..’) in our uncouth approach to MGTOW. Hey, thousands of years of suffering under the patriarchy can do that!
Feeling the full blow of their high testosterone levels, we meekly took a couple of steps back journalistic-speaking and asked them whether they would be prepared to answer some simple questions about their wacky philosophy:
At this point, our feelings were pretty low, quite sure that the MGTOW had literally gone their own way for good. They were no doubt smoking a flavorsome pipe alone in a corner of a strip bar, ruing the day they replied to a bunch of progressives. And yet, like an overweight ugly nymphomaniac, our intellectual curiosity remained totally unsatisfied. We didn’t really understand how an ideology based on men ‘doing their own thing’ was purely ‘a lifestyle choice’. How could they function properly without the benefit of womyn’s wisdom? What if, one day, the internet was broken and they needed to know something and there is no Wikipedia to search: in such situations, we always consult womyn, who know and remember everything. So, we persisted and asked them some questions anyway:
We waited, and waited, and eventually the MGTOW put down their proverbial pipe, gave $10 to the bored dancing girl and picked up their iPhone4 to respond:
Strong stuff indeed. And yet, we are still confused as to why the MGTOW’s lifestyle is not reflective of a philosophy. They’ve decided that going it alone is rational and (on a cost/ benefit basis) sensible way to live, which is clearly a philosophy. Yes, they may claim to have facts to back up their thinking but so do vegans or vegetarians or anyone else who tries to explain their life-choices. Whichever way you look at it, a lifestyle choice has ideas behind it, which counts for philosophy in my book.
Onto the next questions:
Here things get serious wacky. The internet site MGTOW.COM now claims to have ‘been around much longer than Ayn Rand’. As Rand was born in 1905, we are perplexed at this response. Since we know that Al Gore invented the internet and Gore himself was born in carbon neutral year of 1948, this means the internet was barely a great-great twinkle in his great-great-grandfather’s eyes.
As for ‘most people being born from men’, we are prepared to accept this since not having a vagina is no longer an impediment to giving birth. We’ve not looked into the statistics of the numbers of men who gave birth, but the figure seems entirely reasonable based on media articles in Current Year.
And on to our final question and answer:
We have no doubt that Williams brought laughter to many through his many roles on TV and film including the unforgetable Mrs Doubtfire, Mork and other characters. He was no doubt loved as well. It would be insensitive, crass, and cheap to point out that he killed himself by hanging and therefore ask ‘was he truly happy?’ and so we will not.
We thank MGTOW for responding to our questions and hope this humble piece has shed more light on this phil…lifestyle choice.
In closing, it is hard not to have some sympathy with the MGTOW people. In many ways, they are like the asexuals, the aromantics, and the bronies., each of which group is maligned and misunderstood by society.
So, let them go their own way in search of happiness and friendship. Friendship, after all, is magic.
