As I’m sure you’re all aware, the latest new age fashion trend is to be “mindful” of things, in order to reduce stress and live happier lives. The trend has been particularly popular with womyn, who are looking to “self-love” and be “guilt free”, without having to make any sacrifices or do anything virtuous. So what exactly is mindfulness, and why do so many progressives think it can replace religion?
Mindfulness is a powerful tool that one can use to see the world in a different way, feel more relaxed and not sweat the little things. A typical mindfulness strategy will involve noticing things around you, noticing how each part of your body feels, and determining your state of mind. How would you describe your mood today? Is any part of your body painful, or aching? How would you rate your energy level? Take a moment to close your eyes and listen to the sounds around you. Now open your eyes and look around – what do you see? These kinds of practices are all part of mindfulness training, and require the subject to live in the present moment and truly observe every detail of what is going on around them, and within themselves. Contrast this to a religion like Christianity, which requires endless tedious bible lessons, and oppressive “rules” about how to behave, which trap the human spirit and weigh it down with responsibilities and chores. Mindfulness skips over all of the dull and useless parts of religion, and focuses on you as a person and your life. While religion focuses on subjugating your needs and your true being for the benefit of others, the planet and future generations, mindfulness gives you the self-care and attention that you need to live a healthy life.
Other mindfulness practices include meditating and getting deep inside your own mind, instead of engaging with the world and affecting change in the outside world. Advocates of mindfulness recognize that the only way to change the world is to focus on yourself only, and not on the world.
The truth is, religion has had its day, and people no longer find it that useful anymore. With the exception of Islam, religion serves nothing other than to restrict what people can and cannot do, according to some made up set of moral rules that have no basis in reality. People aren’t interested in virtue or being a good person anymore, because we now understand that we are already good and perfect, and we just need to work to recognize that. Christianity says that we are all flawed and need to work to overcome our flaws, but new age spirituality understands that we are all perfect, and simply need to build our confidence and self esteem so that no one can convince us otherwise. This has given rise to the fat acceptance movement which refuses to believe that fat people are ugly and have any responsibility for managing their appearance. Everyone is perfect, so if you think fat people are ugly, you are wrong – they are perfect, just like you. It has also given rise to moral relativism and determinism, which absolve us of all moral responsibility and propose that we can’t be blamed for anything. Thanks to the abolition of Christian ideals like “thou shalt not steal”, millions of progressives support Bernie Sanders, and understand that taking what other people consider “their own” is really just forcing them to share what belongs to everybody.
The days of Christian bigotry and “rules” are over, and today we live for ourselves only. Single motherhood is good because womyn want it – the children and husbands don’t matter. The welfare state and national debt are good because we want it – future generations don’t matter. Only you matter, and it’s time to get your mind in order, eliminate any negative voices in your head telling you otherwise, and become one with the universe.
