Cass Sunstein is cited more often than any other legal scholar in the United States. He is the preeminent authority on constitutional law, administrative law, and environmental law. He is also a world renowned expert in behavioral economics.
Cass was born in Massachusetts in 1954 to Jewish parents. In 1978 he received his doctor of law degree from Harvard Law School. He is married to the incredible Samantha Power (who while serving in the Obama administration State Department, prevented a genocide by stopping Gaddafi from massacring his own people).
Cass Sunstein has written many books and academic papers (they are too numerous to list here). He is one of the greatest thinkers of our times – his many works cover a diverse range of topics. He has written substantially on the importance of animals having rights akin to humans, including the right to legal representation. Another subject that Sunstein has covered extensively is the danger of conspiracy theories and the importance of government intervention to prevent alt-right types spreading corrosive anti-government lies.
The following brilliant quotes from Cass Sunstein illuminate just how sagacious this wonderful academic really is:
Those who hold conspiracy theories typically suffer from a crippled epistemology.
Government agents should enter chat rooms, online social networks, or even real-space groups and attempt to undermine percolating conspiracy theories by raising doubts about their factual premises.
Every state in the union should recognize same-sex marriage.
We ought to ban hunting, it should be against the law. It’s time now.
All gun control legislation is constitutionally fine.
If manipulation really does increase welfare, then it would seem to be justified and even mandatory on ethical grounds.
For consumers, the lesson is simple: Genetically modified foods are safe to eat.
President Obama has been an extraordinarily successful president.
It is desirable that redistribution should occur through climate change policy.
Covertly influencing decision processes may actually enhance autonomy.
There is no liberty without dependency. That is why we should celebrate tax day.
This little snippet of Sunstein’s prodigious work shines a light on his enormous genius – it is clear to see why he is, by far, the most cited legal scholar. Without doubt Cass Sunstein is among the most insightful and gifted academics of all time.
