The widely-discredited propaganda tool of the Kremlin, RT.com, uses the motto ‘Question More’. It seems that Russian Premier Vladimir Putin has taken RT’s advice to a dangerous extreme. In an interview today, Putin has presented a frankly absurd alternative story to the one which the rest of the world knows to be true. He now claims that it WAS NOT Syrian President Assad who last week unleashed tonnes of sarin gas against his own people. It was in fact…wait for it…the Syrian rebels!
Yes, those moderate and peaceful rebels were behind the attacks, what wicked people! They simple stole some of Assad’s highly guarded planes when he had his back turned, flew them to their destination without alerting anyone on the ground, did the darstardly deed, before returning the planes UNDETECTED to the airport. Hmmm…does this sound remotely plausible to you? Well, Putin for one is convinced, which tells you everything you need to know about his mental capabilities.
Putin claims that the Idlib chemical attack was a so-called ‘false flag’ to ‘set up Assad’. He is quoted as saying today that ‘We have reports from multiple sources that false flags like this one – and I cannot call it otherwise – are being prepared in other parts of Syria, including the southern suburbs of Damascus. They plan to plant some chemical there and accuse the Syrian government of an attack’.
Putin’s outrageous conspiracy theory reminds us of previous crackpot ideas such as the US government being involved/complicit in 911. Like 911, this ‘false flag’ attack can be shown to be hair-brained what it is by simple deductive reasoning, as we explain below.
Less than 24 hours after the barbarous attack, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson declared that ‘All the evidence I have seen suggests this was the Assad regime … using illegal weapons on their own people’. He later added in a statement that the incident bore the “hallmarks of an attack by the regime, which has repeatedly used chemical weapons”. Johnson’s assessment was subsequently endorsed by all the world’s accredited media as well as authoritative experts on the ground like the Syrian Observatory on Human Rights.
As Johnson correctly notes, Assad has prior history of using chemical weapons, most recently in 2013. Whilst there were some doubts at the time that it was in fact Assad (which is why Obama held off acting), no-one has come forward since with proof that Assad didn’t do it. Since the media has not absolved the murderous Assad of his guilt, and because Assad is an unapologetic ally of the fascist Putin, we really need no further evidence.
To be fair, Putin is not the only extremist who refuses to accept the official narrative on Syria. As the Daily Kos reports, there are certain ‘unhinged’ politicians like Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii who more properly belong in an asylum.
Speaking of Gabbard, the Daily Kos describes her as a ‘stooge for murderous Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad when she secretly visited his regime in January and came back spouting pro-Assad nonsense that blamed Syria’s brutal civil war on the U.S” This accredited publication adds, in reference to last week’s attacks: “Now she’s descended fully into the land of lunatic conspiracy theories to try to take the heat off her favorite dictator, claiming she’s “skeptical” that Assad was responsible for using poison gas against his citizens”.
The Daily Kos concludes, ‘Whatever you think about how the U.S. should respond to this attack, this is an insane thing to say‘.
It seems insanity is the word of the day, unfortunately.
